Dear Val Miner

I am excited about the prospect of working as a Sign language Interpreter for the University of British Columbia (Competition #99-SP-03). I have recently graduated from the Douglas College ITP program with a variety of skills acquired through, training, practice, and volunteering. One of my long-term goals is to become a skilled interpreter for students who possess all styles of visual language such as, ASL, SEE, PSE, and signed English. I have enclosed my resume as a first step in exploring the possibilities of employment with UBC.

Two of my recent practicum were in post secondary schools. I have found the post-secondary atmosphere to be challenging and rewarding. It is my belief that UBC will continue to challenge and inspire me. I feel that the experiences I have had during my last two practicum have given me the skills I need to succeed and excel at UBC.

In addition I believe that my personality is one that can adapt to and be supportive of any team. In Douglas College I learned the value and importance of teamwork. Every member of a team needs to be flexible, open minded, goal oriented, and willing to except feedback. These are just a few of the elements needed to create a positive work environment. As a member of any team I always make it my ambition to work towards success.

Thank you for considering my application.

Sincerely,

Dean Wiebe
